About Expert Space:
Expert Space is the new online digital curriculum
and toolkit for grades 4-12 that combines a rich collection of leveled content
with sophisticated interactive, learning tools to help all students build deep
content-area knowledge and expertise, plan and complete projects and assignments,
and develop key 21st century information literacy skills. Educators can use
Expert Space to digitally supplement the science and social studies curriculum
and to prepare students for success in the 21st century.
This web-based digital curriculum is interactive whiteboard compliant and can
be used any where there is internet access in the school classrooms, school
library, and computer lab as well as at home.
Standards Aligned
All of the articles and lesson plans in Expert Space can be correlated to Washington
state standards by using the correlation tool in the Educator Resources section.
Spanish Language Support
Each xSpace (or curriculum bundle) features a Spanish
translation of the survey article. English Language Learners will also benefit
from the read-aloud tool and embedded vocabulary support, including an English
to Spanish and Spanish to English dictionary.
Expert Space
also features thousands of additional articles written in Spanish that can be
found using the Search tool so students can conduct research and learning on
a full range of topics entirely in their native language.
Professional Resources
The Educator View allows teachers and librarians
to search for lesson plans, articles and resources that are correlated to state
standards, and search for articles by a Lexile range to help differentiate instruction.
Educators have access to a project library, as well as hundreds of lesson plans
for content-area and information literacy instruction. Educators will also have
access to the full suite of content and learning tools, including their own
personal digital locker.
Subscribers will also receive a Teachers Guide that will offer additional information
on how to use Expert Space in the classroom, library, and computer lab to provide
content-area and 21st century information literacy skills instruction.
Professional Development/Training
All subscribers to Expert Space have access to
Expert Space University, a free monthly online delivered training session. An
unlimited number of teachers and librarians can attend these sessions.
Subscriptions over $50,000 receive one free 2-hour online training session.
Additional training is available from Scholastic on a fee-basis.
